Poetry in the galleries

May 9, 2019 at 6:30pm in the galleries

Join students from the Art & Art History Department as they explore the connections between the Abstract Expressionist painters and the writer, poet, and art critic Frank O’Hara through the reading of his poetry. O’Hara played a major role in “The New York School” of poets at the same time as many of the painters in the collection came out of “The New York School” of Painting. The poet collaborated with many artists of his time, including Jasper Johns, Larry Rivers, and Jackson Pollock.
