1,000 Ways to Hold is a year-long participatory pr

1,000 Ways to Hold is a year-long participatory project rooted in conversation and clay organized by Stanford Arts Visiting Artist Erika Chong Shuch. In this session, you’ll make ceramic bowls together while sharing reflections on the question: What have you held, and what has held you? No experience necessary.

The bowls, along with recorded reflections from participants, will become part of a collective artwork and digital archive that will culminate in a spring exhibition at the Anderson Collection.

In Drive by, artist Nick Cave turns the simple act of moving through public space into a meditation on visibility, vulnerability, and presence. The work underscores how the promise of equality remains unfinished—and why attention, care, and action still matter.
