The film takes an intimate look at the art and career of California artist Tony DeLap, pioneer of West Coast minimalism and Op Art and takes us inside the studio of this renowned painter and sculptor. Viewers will witness DeLap at work and listen as he engages in the intimate and candid discussions that have become a hallmark of Schierholt’s work. Throughout the film, DeLap offers insights into his processes and shares the motivations and influences on his iconic art. The first in Schierholt’s series California Masters, the film offers each viewer their own personal studio visit with this engaging artist that helped define California Art in the 60s while continuing to produce challenging and powerful work today – well into his 80’s.
