Color Shift (Correctional Overlay), (2022), remains on view in the front window of the Anderson Collection following the recent exhibition, Stephanie Syjuco: White Balance/Color Cast. This temporary site-specific installation by Stephanie Syjuco, MFA ’05, highlights the artist’s interest in the color calibration chart, a tool designed to provide a non-subjective standard of comparison when photographing natural objects, such as skin, landscape, and sky. As with many of her works, it asks the viewer to consider the accuracy and neutrality of their gaze, and their role in perpetuating or recasting traditional standards.

Expand your exploration of this artwork with an artist talk, a virtual tour, and by visiting the Stephanie Syjuco: White Balance/Color Cast exhibition page. The exhibition was on view at the Anderson Collection from September 18, 2022–March 5, 2023.

The exhibition was organized by the Anderson Collection at Stanford University and the museum gratefully acknowledges support from Pamela and David Hornik.
