Dr. Jones is a professor of Art History & Archaeology and the Institute for Research in African American Studies at Columbia University. Her research interests include African American and African Diaspora artists, Latino/a and Latin American Artists, and issues in contemporary art and museum theory.

Dr. Jones has worked as a curator for over three decades and has numerous major national and international exhibitions to her credit. Her exhibitions have been named as “one of the best exhibitions” of 2011, 2012, and 2014 by Artforum, as well as “best thematic shows nationally” by the International Association of Art Critics in 2011. She is the co-curator of Witness: Art and Civil Rights in the 1960s which celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, currently on view at the University of Texas, Austin.
